"I guess you're athe-" Callie began, but was interrupted by Rhythm, and soon after, a woman's scream. "Holy shit, what was that?!" she exclaimed, immediately assuming someone was in trouble, and stood up quickly- unfortunately, hitting the table in her wake, knocking over the candles and extinguishing the lights. Now the only sources of light were the wall sconces, which weren't nearly enough. It had almost sounded like the scream was coming from the room with them, but that was impossible- must be the lack of walls making everything sound closer to them.

Oktober didnt pay attention to he scream. She was more concerned by the candles hat were so knocked ro he ground. The smoke from the extimguished flames rose up slowly. For a moment, the smoke was caught and formed around the screamijg woman. In anotherr second even that was gone. Oktober picked up the candles and placed them mpre carefully aroumd the table.

This day just kept getting weirder. First some candles blow over, now something is screaming near the baby, and then Lance sees a smokey silhouette of some lady. That does it. Time to unravel this mystery. "Calm your horses! Obviously, there is science at work here! Look. The screaming is just one of the girls downstairs. The silhouette was just a chance. Smoke travels in any direction, so technically it could have made a horse silhouette. The candles only fell because, uh, the wind blew them over. Right?" Now let's just forget everything that happened and get down to business." His voice was shaking. Lance wanted to believe everything he just said, but it was hard to. All he could think was "The sooner we finish, the sooner we can leave."

Char completely ignored the events that had just occurred. The smoke couldn't possibly have formed the face of a woman. There definitely wasn't a ghastly scream. Char had three things on his mind. 1) How much he wanted to get this project done. 2) How much he wanted to get pocky. 3) How much he would REALLY prefer to be out of this particular house.
"If you do not mind me suggesting, I think that we should most definitely get back to work, so that we can get this assignment finished in a timely fashion, and so that we can all return to our homes, before it gets too late."
He thought about suggesting a trip to the grocery store in order to move the plot along so that he could get pocky, but thought better of it. Work must come first, in this particular situation. Getting the assignment done would ensure that he would not have to return to this house.

Oktober hardly noticed what Char said. She looked right at Lance and her lip trembled. There was so much she wanted to saybut notjing she could. She could rationalize the oddities and the creeping creatures im the house, but she wanted someone other than her brothers and deadbeat of a father to know. Someone who might actually take her and Rhythm away from there. "We should hurry," her voice crqcked, barely a whisper.

This house had rubbed Callie the wrong way the moment she saw it, but she had thought she was just being irrational- reading too much into the pathetic fallacies, which of course, didn't exist outside of fiction. But a woman's scream? Smoke forming in the unmistakable silhouette of a woman? That was just too much. Her heart was thumping heavily against her chest, and she could feel butterflies in her stomach; it was similar to the way she felt when watching romance films, but so very different- instead of feeling excited, or giddy, like she would watching her movies, it was an anxious feeling, like the butterflies were panicking to get out, and she felt like she might be sick with nerves. "I- uh," she stammered, still standing awkwardly, keeping her eyes on where the woman had appeared, "I think, maybe, we should... do this somewhere else? Maybe even just... outside? Maybe there's a park nearby? Doing it outside might even give our diorama... uhm... authenticity?" She was fumbling for an excuse to leave this house.
(Considering she would typically be looking for an excuse to STAY inside, you can tell this is srs bsns.)

Oktober and Char suggested they finish the project quickly. Callie wanted to it somewhere else. "Listen, guys, we can do it right here, right now. We'll be as quick as we can, and be done real quick. Okay?" Lance was finally starting to feel safe again, and that there was no way there could be ghosts. He reached into the box and started sorting the items to to get the group started. Honestly, they should know that there are no such things as ghosts.

"Be calm, darling," Sage whisperedbinto Oktober s ear. She ran her fingers through her daughters hair, sending trembles down oktobers spine. "Y- yeeah," oktober did her best to ignore the spectre behind her. She hadno idea if sage was manifesting in front of the group, but it waa best to ignore it untolbshe disappeared. And in another moment, she was gone.
"Lets at least get this halfway done before we give ourselves a break, yeah?" She quickly glued more pieces of craft crap together.

Callie bit her lip, clearly uneasy, but it was obvious that they weren't going to be going anywhere. Next time, they would definitely go to someone else's house. Without a doubt. She stood for a few seconds, hoping beyond hope that someone would change their mind, but it didn't happen, so she sat down resignedly. From the corner of her eye she thought she saw someone behind Oktober, but when she looked there was nothing there. I must just be seeing things, she assured herself, but her kokoro was still going doki-doki, and not in the good way. She picked up some clay and began rolling it into a ball distractedly. God, she wished she'd brought a game with her. Anything to get her mind off of this house.
(gomen for this horrible post i am so tired orn)

Char saw the silhouette of a woman appear behind Oktober. He was looking straight at her when it appeared. How. What the actual fuck. Char was usually pretty level headed about this kind of stuff, trying to come up with logical explanations, but with the sheer amount of strange things that had happened, he just couldn't deny this one. He considered the events for a second, shook his head, and looked back to the project.
'Okay okay okay. Lets just get this done.' he thought to himself.
Char too grabbed a chunk of play and began shaping it into the very rough form of a human. His stomach grumbled loudly. His stomach was speaking to him.
"Pocky pl0x" it asked.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!Time Skip!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Char stood quietly in the kitchen. "Does your family have any food in its possession at this moment? I apologize if I am being too straightforward, but..." Char's stomach grumbled loudly again, "...there is a mighty need."
Sage had followed the group to the kitchen. This was a place she avoided because it made her more sad than the rest of the house. Oktober stood on a stool, then climbed ojto yhe counter top. She rummaged through the cupboards, which consisted mainly of baby formula and scooby snax ( which were essentially off limits because her brothers paid for those). She shoved a few gray peaches to he side and found the remnants of a pack of spaghetti. "Well, there's this?" Oktober held thepackage in one hand and clung to the cupboqrd with the other. "I bought some groceries last night, maybe we can make somethi-" the cupboards in the kitchen all slammed shut at once; in her shame Sage shrunk into a child and wanted to hide the disgrace hat she couldnt properly provide for her children. Sage sobbed like a baby, opening and shutting the cupboards once more, stomping her feet and shaking her head. All the while, oktober was falling from the counter.
When the cupboards started opening and shutting on their own, Callie nearly screamed; instead, she inhaled sharply, and stood in silent horror. Nope. Nopenopenopenopenope. She noped the hell out of there, turning quickly on her heel. Unfortunately, there were no walls in the house, so it's not like she could just walk into the other room. Instead, she just left the house.
"Hey Callie, where are you going? It was just the w-w-wind!" Right? I mean, if it was anything other than the wind, it was explainable by science. There's just no way that ghosts or aliens or reindeer could exist. It just wouldn't make any sense. Lance decided to talk about the elephant in the room. The supernatural elephant. "G-guys, I understand after a-all that we've seen today, one m-might want to believe in g-g-ghosts. But don't forget that those things aren't real, okay? Hell, I bet you someone's just pulling a prank on us, r-r-right?" Wrong. "So let's just make so-" Lance froze with fear. Just as he was talking, he felt cold, deathly, air flow down his back. His spine chilled. Hair stood on it's ends. His hat bounced off and on his head. "AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH. EVERYONE RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!!!" Lance, quicker than lightning, dashed out of the house and zoomed past Callie, running as far and as fast as he could.
Char's hunger very suddenly disappeared. He stood in the middle of the kitchen, his face construed with awe and fear. He looked to oktober, "if you do not mind, I am just going to step out for a very long while." Char turned and left the kitchen at a normal walking pace, following the path that both Callie and Lance had used to quickly escape the house.
Shagworthy's attention was quickly diverted from his ho when he noticed the group running out of the house. He followed them outside, not looking around for Oktober. He had an idea of what had happened. Sage had a knack for, inadvertently picking on her daughter. "...You met my mom, didn't you?"
Oktober was left alone on the kitchen floor, her legs splayed out above her. She stared up at Sage who gazed back down at her. "Why can't you let me have friends, mom?" The ghost only bowed her head, solemnly. She knew she had done wrong but felt she was entitled to her reaction. "WHy did you do that?" Oktober continued.
